Discipleship

 

Heavenly Father is more interested in my growth as a disciple of Jesus Christ than He is with my comfort....the call of our day—disciples who dig deep to find the strength to keep pulling when called to walk through the wilderness, disciples with convictions that have been revealed to us by God, followers of Jesus who are joyful and wholehearted in our own personal journey of discipleship. (Sister Craig, October Conference 2022)

Nothing quite like General Conference while serving as a full time missionary!  Sister Chappell and I were touched by Sister Craig's comments in Conference; that our Heavenly Father is more interested in our growth as disciples of Christ than in our personal comfort.  Sometimes we feel uncomfortable, but through it all, we see ourselves, and our family, coming closer to Christ.  We feel extremely blessed to be serving the Lord.

South America Northwest Areas was well represented at General Conference with our Area President, Elder Zeballos speaking in the Saturday afternoon session, and Elder Pino, Area Presidency second counselor speaking Saturday morning.  Also, Elder Held, recently released as first counselor, offered the opening prayer in the Saturday evening session.

A new temple in Chiclayo, Peru!  I nearly jumped out of my chair when the announcement was made.  Julie and I assist the mission leaders from the Chiclayo Mission.  It's a lovely city near the coast in northern Peru. I visited there once briefly and we hope to return for a more extended visit in the future.
